QUESTIONS ARE WELCOME HERE
A little clarity before you get started.
Starting psychiatric care can come with a lot of questions. Here are answers to some of the things you may want to know before your first appointment.
Where can I attend my telehealth appointment?
You must be physically located in California at the time of your appointment and in a safe, private location where you can participate fully in your care.
Appointments cannot be conducted while you are driving or operating a vehicle. If you are driving at the time of your appointment, you will be asked to safely park before the visit can continue. If you are unable to do so, the appointment may need to be rescheduled.
What if I am traveling outside California?
You must be physically located in California at the time psychiatric care is provided. If you are outside California on the day of your appointment, please plan to reschedule for a time when you are back in the state.
What happens during my first appointment?
Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We will talk about what you have been experiencing, your medical and psychiatric history, current medications, previous treatment, concerns, and what you hope will feel different.
You will also have time to ask questions and discuss treatment recommendations and next steps.
Does scheduling an evaluation mean I will be prescribed medication?
No. An evaluation is an opportunity to understand your symptoms, history, concerns, and treatment goals. Medication may be discussed when clinically appropriate, but no specific medication or treatment is guaranteed.
What is medication management?
Medication management includes ongoing follow-up to evaluate how you are responding to treatment, monitor symptoms and possible side effects, answer questions, and make adjustments when appropriate.
Do you offer flexible appointment times?
Yes. BloomState is designed with busy schedules in mind. Select late-afternoon and early-evening appointments will be available.
Care should fit into your life—not the other way around.
